Spring greening

Keep your bathroom spic and span with these natural solutions.

Since your home spa is designed to enhance your environment, why load it up with a toxic cocktail of chemical cleansers? Instead, get clean and green. Breathe easy with the essential oils of lemon verbena, lavender and geranium in Mrs. Meyer's Clean Day (1) aromatherapeutic household cleaners (mrsmeyers.com) or pick up the eco-chic urban Method line (2) (methodhome.com) from your local grocery store. Seventh Generation (seventhgen.com) has been producing non-toxic, biodegradable household products since 1988, while Shaklee (shaklee.com) introduced their Basic-H Concentrated Organic Cleaner (3) way back in 1960. But if green glitterati are what you're looking for, actor and enviro-activist Ed Begley Jr. has a line called Begley's Best: 100% plant-based cleaners that are totally biodegradable in just three to seven days (and all profits go to charity; begleysbest.com). For a homemade substitute, mix equal parts vinegar (a natural disinfectant) and water in a spray bottle to keep your conscience—and your bathroom—clean.
